Searching the Jackson County Court Docket
Start with the Colorado Judicial Branch Docket Search. It costs nothing. It covers scheduled events, not every filing a Jackson County case holds. Pick Jackson County. Then add a filter besides the date. A full case number works best; party and attorney fields can find a hearing too.
- Decide whether the goal is a hearing date, a chronological Register of Actions, or a filed document.
- Choose Jackson County District Court, Jackson County Court, or Town of Walden Municipal Court based on the case type and citation.
- For a state hearing, search by Jackson County plus the year, case class, sequence, party name, or attorney field.
- Read the result as one setting and note its date, time, hearing type, location, appearance method, and courtroom.
- Request the ROA or exact filed paper from the Clerk of Court when the calendar result is not enough.
For deeper access, CoCourts sells real-time ROA lookups, and the statewide Record/Document Request Form sends an official request straight to Jackson. There is a workaround for the clerk's nonparty name-search fee. Search by exact case number and that charge never applies.
Three Jackson County Docket Products
In Colorado, the word docket gets stretched. A hearing search, a Register of Actions, and the filed case document each answer a different question about a Jackson County court docket. No single tool combines all three.
| Product | What it answers | Best source |
|---|---|---|
| Hearing result | When and where a listed event is set | Free Judicial Branch Docket Search |
| Register of Actions | Chronological case activity, charges, sentences, and minute orders | Clerk request or authorized real-time vendor |
| Filed document | The text of a complaint, motion, order, decree, ticket, or judgment | Jackson County Combined Court clerk |
A certified copy is the clerk's own product. It simply has authentication added. Certification vouches for one document to a recipient who requires it.
Colorado Courts E-Filing is a fourth layer, but only for filers. It is not a free public library of case files. An account search is free. Under the September 2025 pricing model, case-history access costs $15 when the account did not file in the matter. That access runs fourteen days. Documents cost nothing once case access exists. These charges sit apart from clerk copying and certification. A member of the public who needs an official Jackson County paper has one route. Use the Combined Court request process.
Inside a Jackson County Court Docket
Think of a Jackson County Register of Actions as the case roadmap. Colorado's request form calls it a brief explanation of a matter. That explanation can include charges, sentences, and minute orders. It indexes pleadings, settings, rulings, and disposition activity. But it does not reproduce the full text of each paper.
| Case Number | A four-digit year, class, and sequence, such as 2026-CV-[sequence]. |
|---|---|
| Parties | Publicly displayed roles and names, subject to redaction and access limits. |
| Filings | Dated entries for complaints, petitions, motions, responses, and orders. |
| Settings | Hearing dates and types, with appearance and courtroom details when supplied. |
| Court | The County or District Court, division, and judicial officer where recorded. |
| Disposition | Dismissal, judgment, plea, verdict, sentence, or other outcome shown by the actual order. |
A docket entry is only an index. When exact terms matter, use the signed order rather than the entry as a substitute.
Jackson County Docket Search Fields
The free state interface filters by court, case, party, lawyer, and date. Its own instructions demand at least one filter beyond the date. Jackson County sits in Judicial District 8. Once location is set, the courthouse choice is easy. It is Jackson County Combined Court.
| Search path | Fields to use | Jackson County note |
|---|---|---|
| Case number | Four-digit year, case class, sequence | Common verified classes include CR, CV, DR, PR, and T |
| Individual | First and last name | Add court and date context to reduce similar-name results |
| Business | Business name | Select the business search mode rather than splitting the name |
| Attorney | Name or Colorado bar number | Use the matching lawyer search option |
| Location | District, county, courthouse, court type | Select Jackson County and the Combined Court |
You can export or print results, and larger sets paginate. Those controls preserve the calendar list. They do not create a certified case record.
Courts That Keep Dockets in Jackson County
Two state trial courts share one clerk office at the Combined Court. Their jurisdiction stays distinct. The Town of Walden Municipal Court, separate entirely, keeps ordinance and town-citation matters at Town Hall.
| Court | Docket covers | Where to start |
|---|---|---|
| Jackson County District Court | Felony, larger civil, domestic relations, probate, mental-health, juvenile, and adoption matters | State Docket Search and Combined Court clerk |
| Jackson County Court | Misdemeanor, traffic, infraction, civil claims through $25,000, and small claims through $7,500 | State Docket Search and Combined Court clerk |
| Town of Walden Municipal Court | Town ordinance and municipal citation matters | Municipal Court Clerk and Town agenda archive |
Ordinary District Court appeals go to the Colorado Court of Appeals. County Court civil appeals take a different route. They move to District Court under Colorado Rule of Civil Procedure 411, which creates a receiving-court history that should be searched under its own number.
Jackson County Dockets on Selected Tuesdays
Jackson County keeps a slower calendar than a big city courthouse. The court's own 2026 page sets District Court on one chosen Tuesday in most months. County Court gets its own named Tuesdays. Traffic returns land at 9:00 a.m. on those days, and civil returns follow at 11:00 a.m.
Treat the dates as a list, not a formula. The 2026 District Court schedule skips June entirely, and the April session lands on the first Tuesday rather than some later slot. A Tuesday on the calendar does not mean your case is set that day. The case result, the notice, or the latest ROA entry still has the final word on when a matter comes up.
The official Jackson County court page posts the full annual schedule along with the local services the court provides.
That official page is handy for confirming the local cadence. After that, check the specific case event in the docket search.
How to Find Court Dates and Settings
Run the Jackson County hearing search and record every event field. Then compare it against the published session list. A result can show a lot. Fields include date, start time, estimated duration, caption, case number, hearing type, location, appearance type, and courtroom. It does not show the whole filing history.
Next, inspect or request the ROA for minute orders, notices, cancellations, and resets. A newer setting entry often replaces an older one, though unclear wording needs clerk confirmation. Call 970-723-4363 for a state case. For a town citation, call the Walden Municipal Court Clerk at 970-723-4344. The town agenda filter is only a calendar aid. The full Jackson County court dates guide explains the local schedule and appearance fields.
Virtual Jackson County Court Dockets
Jackson County Combined Court 1 is the official virtual courtroom tied to Judge Ryan and Judge Jouard. It offers Webex and telephone entry, with a published dial-in number and access code. Keep in mind that access page does not make every event remote.
Read the event, not just the room link. The appearance field may say in person, virtual, telephone, no appearance required, or remain unspecified. Confirm authorization for the specific setting.
A reset or a changed appearance method may show up in a later notice or docket entry. Save the case number. If the event display and the latest order conflict, call the clerk.
Colorado's reminder infrastructure reaches this rural court too. A recent Judicial Department program report counted 171 messages for Jackson County Combined Court in its reporting table. A reminder can help, but enrollment, delivery, and a text message never replace a summons, signed order, or confirmed setting. No reminder in your inbox? The court record and direct instructions still govern.
Public Access to Court Dockets
Colorado treats case files differently from ordinary administrative records. Court rules, statutes, directives, and individual judges' orders control them. The public can inspect most dockets. Sealed or sensitive categories, though, may call for redaction, proof of authority, or a judicial order first.
Key Colorado rules:
Chief Justice Directive 05-01 sets statewide access standards and defines sealed, suppressed, protected, and restricted records.
Chief Justice Directive 06-01 governs fees, research, redaction, retrieval, scanning, and waiver issues.
C.R.S. section 13-32-104 supplies authority for certification, judgment-transcript, copy, and related clerk charges.
When records conflict, the original court settles it. Commercial vendor data is convenient and billed as real time, but the Judicial Branch does not treat it as the official record.
Four Jackson County Docket Limits
An empty Jackson County docket search proves little. A case may still exist. The date window you chose, a reset, a data correction, a different court, or a legal restriction can all hide entries.
- Sealed
- Closed under a statute, rule, or court order.
- Suppressed
- Limited to judges, staff, parties, counsel, authorized personnel, or a requester with a court order.
- Protected
- Public only after required confidential information is removed.
- Restricted
- A defined group of sensitive criminal records subject to special access limits.
Some material stays off limits. Juvenile, adoption, presentence, medical, mental-health, financial, paternity, and certain exhibit records can all be controlled. Government photo identification may be requested for suppressed, juvenile, probate, or confidential files, yet showing ID never overrides the legal restriction itself.
Docket Records at the Clerk's Office
One office holds the records. Christina Utley serves as Clerk of Court, Jury Commissioner, and Probate Registrar, and her Judicial Branch office keeps both County and District Court files. No separate elected clerks exist for those state dockets. Request records through the statewide online form, at the counter, by phone, fax, or mail. The official Combined Court location page gives the building address and office details.
That page keeps this state court office distinct from Walden Town Hall, which holds the separate municipal docket.

Collections hours published elsewhere are not the clerk-records hours. When the Walden counter is closed, the county page lists Kathleen Madden at Larimer County Court, 970-494-3501, as an assistance contact. Jackson keeps custody of its own files. Shared district support does not move that custody. The Eighth District Court Resource Center, based in Larimer, helps Jackson self-represented litigants remotely at 08CourtResourceCenter@judicial.state.co.us or 970-494-3581. Kerry Hong is listed as Court Executive and local ADA Coordinator at 970-494-3591. Ask the court itself for an interpreter; never infer language services from a docket entry. These contacts ease access. They cannot change what the public ROA shows.
Jackson County Docket Copy Fees
Copy costs vary by how pages are produced. Authentication, research, postage, redaction, and retrieval can each add to the bill. The online request page posts $0.25 per page. The broader fee schedule splits that into $0.25 self-service or electronic copies. Court-made filed-document copies run $0.75 per page. A double-sided page costs $1.50. Ask for an estimate instead of guessing which tier applies.
| Item | Published amount | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Nonparty name search with ROA | $5 | Subject to legal waiver requirements |
| Certified or exemplified copy | $20 per document | Page-copy charges may be additional |
| Transcript of Judgment | $25 | Not a transcript of spoken testimony |
| Research or redaction | $30 per hour | Charged in 15-minute increments after the first hour |
| Off-site retrieval | Actual cost | Request a quote before ordering |
Older files may not sit on site. Ask the Combined Court first, then Colorado State Archives. Postage tiers are in the printable schedule. Mailing starts at $1 for one to seventeen pages, then climbs through $2, $3, $4, $7, and $19 as page counts grow. Postal prices change, so treat these numbers as a planning guide. The request material caps parties and their attorneys at $15 per case for copies; nonparties get no such cap. Before sending payment, have the clerk reconcile your status, page method, postage, and any research work.
Jackson County's Small Docket Scale
Jackson and Larimer share the Eighth Judicial District but not its workload. Official FY2024 material lists 38 District Court filings in Jackson. Larimer logged 10,001. A separate official evaluation looked at the County Court judge. The judge serves one-fifth time. That judge handled 125 Jackson County Court cases filed in FY2023. Different years and court levels apply. The figures cannot be added together.
The small scale explains the selected court days and the shared district support. It also argues for restraint: docket education works best when it covers systems and fields rather than spotlighting identifiable local parties. The official judges and staff directory names the public officers who serve the court.
The directory fits local personnel into the Eighth District structure without moving where Jackson case records live.
Jackson County Court Dockets by City
Walden is the county's only incorporated municipality. Its Municipal Court docket stands apart. It is not a division of the state Combined Court. Town ordinance and municipal citation records start with the Town Clerk at 513 Harrison Street. State misdemeanors, traffic matters, civil claims, and District Court cases belong at 396 LaFever Street.
