Jackson County Court Calendars Explained
Start on the Jackson County Judicial Branch page. It posts the local 2026 session dates for both Jackson County District Court and Jackson County Court. The list tells you when each court plans to sit in Walden. A listed day is not your setting. Want the event-level view? The free Colorado Judicial Branch Docket Search returns the case number, hearing label, time, location, appearance type, courtroom, and expected duration.
Division of labor matters here. District Court takes felony, unrestricted civil, domestic, probate, mental-health, and juvenile matters. County Court handles misdemeanors, traffic, infractions, small claims, and civil claims within its stated limit. Both operate through Jackson County Combined Court. The Town of Walden Municipal Court keeps its own ordinance and citation schedule. A town matter may not show up in the state calendar at all.
The statewide Docket Search form is the official tool. It shows exactly how court dates are filtered and returned.
The form separates two tasks. One searches scheduled hearings; the other requests the full Register of Actions or filed papers.
Jackson County 2026 Court Dates
Jackson County runs on a sparse published schedule, not a daily court calendar. District Court sits on these 2026 dates: January 13, February 10, March 10, April 7, May 12, July 14, August 11, September 8, October 13, November 10, and December 8. No June date appears. Note April 7 is the first Tuesday. Real dates beat any rule of thumb about a fixed Tuesday each month.
County Court dates run January 6 and 27; February 3 and 24; March 3 and 31; April 7 and 28; May 5 and 26; June 2, 23, and 30; July 28; August 4 and 18; September 1 and 22; October 6 and 27; November 3 and 17; and December 1 and 15. On session Tuesdays, traffic returns sit at 9:00 a.m. Civil returns follow at 11:00 a.m. Those times describe categories of County Court business only. Your citation, notice, or the current docket still controls your individual setting.
Session date is not case notice. Use the published list to identify court days, then match the case in Docket Search and confirm with the clerk.
Finding Your Court Date
Never rely on a single source. Jackson County Combined Court tells readers plainly to contact the clerk for a specific setting. A lawyer's notice can also carry hidden terms. So can a direct court order, even when a thin calendar row shows nothing. For a state District or County Court matter, work this sequence.
- Open the free Docket Search, choose Jackson County, set the date window, and add at least one more filter. A full case number is the strongest choice.
- Match the event by case number and court. Record the date, start time, hearing type, location, courtroom, duration, and appearance type.
- Compare the event with the local session list. Treat the list as confirmation that court sits that day, not as proof that your case is on it.
- Read the newest notice or Register of Actions entry for a reset. A later minute order may replace an earlier setting that remains in the history.
- Call the Clerk of Court at 970-723-4363 or ask at 396 LaFever Street in Walden during clerk hours. A party represented by counsel should also confirm with counsel.
- For a town citation, call the Walden Municipal Court Clerk at 970-723-4344 and use the town agenda archive. For a virtual label, verify that remote attendance is authorized for that event.
The Jackson-filtered docket results demonstrate the narrow event view used for this check.
Export and print buttons can save the visible list. A saved copy never freezes a setting against later change.
Jackson County Court Date Filters
The state hearing tool demands at least one filter besides date. Pick Judicial District 8, Jackson County, or Jackson County Combined Court where those fields help. Court Type splits County work from District work. Division narrows a known assignment. Name searching works with an individual, business, attorney name, or attorney bar number. Similar names invite false matches.
A case-number search breaks the identifier into a four-digit year, a case class, and a sequence. Common verified classes are CR for criminal, CV for civil, DR for domestic relations, PR for probate, and T for traffic. The official interface may offer more. Never invent a class. Never assume a number belongs to Jackson County because the format looks right. With a partial case number, combine the known year or class. Add Jackson County and a tight date range.
Note: a blank result has many causes. It can come from the date window, a reset, a correction, or restricted access, not necessarily the absence of a case.
How to Read a Court Setting
A Jackson County court setting is one event in a case, not a final status. Read every displayed field together. The hearing label states the event's purpose. The appearance value shows how that event is listed. Location and courtroom identify the forum. Duration is an estimate, never a promise the case starts or ends on time.
| Event Date | The scheduled calendar date for this hearing event. |
|---|---|
| Start Time | The listed start, which may differ from Jackson County's general traffic or civil return time. |
| Duration | The court's estimated event length, not a guaranteed finish time. |
| Caption | The displayed party or case name used to distinguish the matter. |
| Case Number | The year, case class, and sequence tied to the event. |
| Hearing Type | The purpose, such as Status Conference, Motions Hearing, or Appearance on Bond. |
| Location | The court location assigned to the setting. |
| Judge | The presiding judicial officer when supplied by the setting or assignment source; this was not a captured result field. |
| Appearance Type | IN PERSON, VIRTUAL, TELEPHONE, NO APPEARANCE REQUIRED, or an unspecified value. |
| Courtroom | A room number, letter, or virtual designation for that event. |
The calendar does not show pleading images, a full filing chronology, detailed charges, attorney data, balances, or a disposition block. Those live in the Register of Actions or filed case documents. The clerk supplies them through the official request process.
Jackson County Virtual Court Dates
Each appearance tag speaks to one event only. IN PERSON means you go to the courtroom listed. When you see VIRTUAL or TELEPHONE, the hearing has a remote option. NO APPEARANCE REQUIRED tells you the event needs no showing at all. A blank field decides nothing for you. Treat it as no permission to appear remotely.
The court's own Jackson County Combined Court 1 page lists the Webex and telephone access for its virtual courtroom.
Seeing that link is not permission to show up online. Check the appearance type first, then follow whatever the judge, clerk, or counsel directs. Arrange interpreters and disability accommodations through court channels too, since a calendar entry never settles those needs.
- Status Conference
- A case-management check on progress and next steps, not a trial.
- Motions Hearing
- Argument or evidence on one or more pending requests for a ruling.
- Appearance on Bond
- A criminal setting tied to appearance or case status while a person is released on bond.
- Show Cause Hearing
- A setting at which a person must explain why a requested consequence should not follow.
Continuances, Resets, and Cancellations
A continuance or reset moves a hearing. It never erases the first event from the case history. The Register of Actions often keeps the original notice. It then adds a later minute order with the new setting. The newest clear order or notice wins. When wording is murky, confirm before you rely on it. The free calendar covers only a short date range. A replacement hearing can sit outside the visible window while the older event drops out of view.
Weather and building closures usually surface as Judicial Branch alerts. Weekend bond hearings run on their own schedule, which the county court page links to. Jackson Combined Court sends automated reminders. But a text that fails to arrive is not a cancellation and never excuses an appearance. Treat every reminder as a nudge to check the official docket.
The Colorado Judicial Branch's Chief Justice Directives index is where statewide directives on court access and fees live.
That directive index explains the gap. An online calendar entry is one public-access layer, not the clerk's certified case record.
When Jackson County Dates Conflict
Two dates often mean one is old and one is current. Start with the case numbers. A District Court case and a County Court case can carry the same names. They stay separate matters. Then look at when each notice or minute order was entered. Widen your search window so a replacement hearing is not hiding at the edge. If the conflict persists, call the Clerk of Court. Do not just pick whichever date suits you.
Trust the sources in order. A current signed order or direct notice comes first, then the latest Register of Actions and docket listing, then confirmation from court staff. The annual session list ranks below those. It can confirm court is planned for a day, but it cannot replace an order. Walden Municipal Court dates come from the municipal clerk and the town agenda archive. That path sits wholly apart from the state court calendar.
Note: Save the date, time, hearing type, case number, and appearance mode from each source. Court staff can then untangle the mismatch quickly.
If You Miss a Court Setting
Act at once. Search the Jackson County court calendar for a new event, read the newest Register of Actions entry, and call the court holding the case. State District or County matters go to Jackson County Combined Court. A town citation belongs to the Walden Municipal Court Clerk. Represented parties should call their counsel. Never assume a reset happens without court action.
Missed a setting? A missed hearing may lead to a failure-to-appear response, a warrant, or another case consequence depending on the matter.
Contact the correct clerk or your lawyer promptly, ask for the present case status, and obtain lawful instructions before appearing.
Only the court can state what action has been entered in a specific Jackson County case.
A calendar search may surface the next date, yet it will not show every order or tell you how to fix the miss. When the history is unclear, ask for the current Register of Actions or the exact order. Any certified record must come from the clerk. A calendar printout will not do.
Jackson County Calendar Boundaries
The state docket search is not a master calendar for everything. Town ordinance cases stay with Walden Municipal Court unless a later procedure moves them into state court. Federal cases run on federal systems. The U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado is separate from Jackson County District Court. Do not let the shared word mislead you. Appeals from federal trial court travel through the Tenth Circuit. They skip the Colorado Court of Appeals.
The official U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit page shows that distinct federal appellate layer.
Keep a state Jackson County case inside Colorado Judicial Branch sources unless its record shows a transfer or appeal. If the matter moves, search the receiving court under its new number. Keep the old one as a cross-reference. For the fuller local history, use the Jackson County case lookup path. One hearing row is never the whole record.
