Searching Jackson County Civil Dockets
Jurisdiction comes first. Jackson County Court takes small claims through $7,500. Other civil claims run through $25,000 there. Jackson County District Court takes civil claims beyond or outside that limit, along with domestic relations and probate. Both sit inside Jackson County Combined Court. Walden Municipal Court is not the general civil or small-claims court. For scheduled events, try the free Jackson County-filtered Docket Search. Pick Jackson, then narrow by date, case class, filing year, or sequence. For commercial real-time Register of Actions access, use CoCourts. If a result is missing or thin, call the clerk at 970-723-4363, stop at the counter, send a request by mail or fax, or file the statewide form.

Jackson Civil Docket Jurisdiction Lines
Jackson County's civil docket splits along jurisdiction lines. State-court staff all work from one Combined Court, though. Claims that fall under the small-claims ceiling belong on the County Court small-claims docket. County Court keeps other civil matters too, but only up to its stated limit. Anything beyond that limit belongs on the District Court docket instead.
| Jackson court | Civil docket covers | Search cue |
|---|---|---|
| County Court | Small claims through $7,500 | Confirm small-claims class and setting |
| County Court | Other civil claims through $25,000 | Use civil class and County Court |
| District Court | Civil claims beyond or outside County Court jurisdiction | Use District Court and civil class |
| District Court | Domestic relations and probate | Use DR or PR, subject to access limits |
Jurisdiction matters later, too. County Court civil appeals go to Jackson County District Court under Colorado Rule of Civil Procedure 411, where a separate appellate history builds up on the docket.
Inside a Jackson County Civil Docket
Think of the Register of Actions as the case's timeline. It can list the filing court, division, judicial officer, filing date, case status, and party roles, then the initiating pleading, response, motions, minute orders, hearing events, signed orders, judgment, and post-judgment activity. One caution applies. The ROA can name a document without showing what is inside it.
| Case number | Year, civil case class, and sequence, such as 2026CV. |
|---|---|
| Parties | Plaintiff and defendant, or petitioner and respondent, when public. |
| Filings | Initiating pleading, response, motion, minute order, and signed order entries. |
| Settings | Date, time, hearing type, location, appearance method, and courtroom. |
| Outcome | Judgment, dismissal, satisfaction, appeal, or other post-judgment action. |
Domestic, probate, medical, financial, and child-related material may be redacted or withheld. The public ROA is a search aid only. It never substitutes for the signed order that states what the court actually decided.
Jackson Civil Docket Case Classes
Colorado case-class letters help aim a Jackson County civil docket search at the right docket. The letter CV commonly flags civil matters. DR marks domestic relations, and PR marks probate. Read the class together with the court and case number. The letters signal procedure, not every fact in the dispute.
- CV
- Civil case class used for general civil matters.
- DR
- Domestic-relations class for family matters in District Court.
- PR
- Probate class in District Court; the Jackson clerk also serves as Probate Registrar.
- ROA
- Register of Actions, the dated index and brief account of case activity.
Party-name searches do not always settle the question. Ask the clerk to identify the correct docket before you order a record. That step keeps a general civil search from missing a domestic or probate filing that follows different access rules.
Civil Case Types on the Docket
General civil claims, small claims, domestic relations, and probate all show up on Jackson County civil dockets. The public portion may reflect initiating pleadings, recorded service activity, responses, motions, hearings, orders, judgment, satisfaction, and appeal or transfer references. The Municipal Court does not replace any of these state-court dockets.
- Small claims within the County Court ceiling
- Other County Court civil claims within its stated jurisdiction
- District Court civil claims outside County Court jurisdiction
- Domestic relations matters filed as DR cases
- Probate matters filed as PR cases
Case type also tells you which source document matters most. A general civil case may turn on an Order for Judgment. A family case may involve a decree, parenting plan, separation agreement, support order, or petition, with access limits applied to protected content.
Jackson Civil Hearings Are Not Judgments
A setting shows what the court plans to take up. It is not the result. A Motions Hearing deals with pending requests. A Rule 120 Hearing is tied to Colorado procedure for certain orders authorizing sale. A Non-Contested Hearing presents an issue with no live dispute on that setting. An Initial Conference Appearance is simply an early case-management event.
Read past the setting: Find a signed judgment, dismissal, decree, or later minute order before treating a Jackson civil matter as resolved.
One missed event does not imply a default judgment. Relief must be entered under the governing rules and show up in an actual order. Read any dismissal closely, too. It matters whether it is voluntary or involuntary, and with or without prejudice.
Civil Docket Settings and Hearings
The free docket tool can display a civil event's date, time, duration, case display, and number. It also shows hearing type, location, appearance type, and courtroom. Jackson County Court civil returns run at 11 a.m. on selected Tuesdays. The published 2026 schedule sets those dates. District Court follows separately posted Jackson session dates, and its judges serve mixed assignments. Old settings can linger in the ROA after a continuance or reset. Check the latest order or notice first, then compare the current ROA against the hearing result. When they conflict, call the clerk. A virtual courtroom link alone does not authorize remote attendance. Follow the appearance method on the order instead. The full date-check process is laid out through Jackson County court dates and hearings. Note: A reset, appearance method, or courtroom can be unclear. Confirm the civil setting with the Combined Court at 970-723-4363.
Jackson Civil Judgment Record Choices
Three records get confused: an Order for Judgment, a Transcript of Judgment, and a hearing transcript. They are not the same. The Order for Judgment states the court's ruling. A Transcript of Judgment is a clerk-issued document. It is used to evidence or docket a judgment elsewhere, not to give a word-for-word account of a hearing. A Satisfaction of Judgment records that the obligation has been satisfied.
| Record | Purpose | Published fee |
|---|---|---|
| Certified copy | Authenticated copy of the selected filed document | $20 certification per document plus copy cost |
| Transcript of Judgment | Evidence used to docket a judgment elsewhere | $25 |
| Satisfaction certificate | Shows the judgment obligation was satisfied | $20 |
Before you pay any fee, ask the office or person receiving the record which civil product it requires. The state record request form lays out the available choices and sends the request on to Jackson County.
Jackson Civil Docket E-Filing Limits
Colorado Courts E-Filing runs statewide as the main filing platform. It is not the clerk's certified case file. Its paid case-history tool and real-time register can help you follow activity on a Jackson County civil docket, but copies of filed documents still come from the court itself when public access permits. The official page explains the system and spells out its access limits.
That distinction matters. Filing something is one task; obtaining an official judgment, pleading, or certified copy is another. CoCourts shows real-time ROA data too, yet it also does not hand over source documents. When you need an exact filed item, give the Combined Court clerk the case number plus the date or description of the docket entry.
Jackson Civil Docket Scale
Official Eighth Judicial District figures count 38 total Jackson District Court filings across every case category in fiscal year 2024. The number is not civil-only. It still gives a sense of how small the district-level docket in Jackson County is. District judges carry mixed assignments and may travel or rely on remote scheduling.
Fewer filings does not mean every case is simple to find online. A narrow calendar range can miss an event, protected material may be absent, and the ROA can lack the text of a filing. Rely on posted session dates and clerk confirmation, not on a sparse search result.
Jackson Civil Docket Appeals
A County Court civil appeal moves up to Jackson County District Court under Colorado Rule of Civil Procedure 411. The receiving court then builds its own appellate history. A docket search limited to the original County Court record may catch the appeal notice. It may skip later District Court events. Trace both case numbers whenever the records reveal them. Treat the original judgment, the notice or transfer entry, and the District Court disposition as separate steps. If the case then joins the ordinary state appellate route, the next stop is the Colorado Court of Appeals.
Civil Docket Access Rules
Judicial access rules govern Colorado court case records. Chief Justice Directive 05-01 sets out which records are sealed, suppressed, protected, or restricted, and it controls remote access. A protected record becomes public only after required redaction. Suppressed content stays with authorized users unless a court order allows more. Domestic, probate, medical, financial, and child-related materials can demand identification, redaction, authorization, or a judicial order. Government photo ID does not erase the legal limit.
A blank search can also come from the wrong class, court, date range, or spelling, so it does not prove a Jackson County civil case is sealed or absent. Send case-specific requests to the court or its online form. Administrative questions about court operations follow Colorado's Public Access to Information and Records Rules, a separate process from requesting an ROA or judgment in a named case.
Source-record rule: Vendor data is convenient but not the official record. Obtain the filed order or a clerk-certified copy when authenticity matters.
